Under Galt's form of government, the City Council is responsible for appointing the City Manager. The City Manager is responsible for the efficient administration of all the affairs of the City which are under his control. It is the responsibility of the City Manager to ensure that all laws and ordinances are enforced and to recommend to the City Council measures and ordinances that he determines are in the City's best interest. The City Manager updates City Council on the financial condition and future needs of the City. The City Manager’s office is also responsible for preparing the Annual Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for council's adoption. All Department Heads are appointed by the City Manager and are under his direct supervision.
The responsibilities of Human Resources, Economic Development, and Information Technology are also managed by the City Manager's office.
